Information notice

Paris, january 28, 2009

ASN is opening a website in English. It can be consulted either from the French site or directly at http://www.french-nuclear-safety.fr.

This initiative is part of ASN's policy of transparency and international outreach. It is a contribution to ensuring that as many as possible, whether in France or abroad, can familiarise themselves with and understand French policy and practices in the field of nuclear safety and radiation protection, as well as the steps taken to deal with the problems encountered.

Until now, ASN simply had a website section in English. Its aim now is to disseminate all useful information concerning the regulation and the safety of French nuclear installations, at an international level.

The goals of the new site http://www.french-nuclear-safety.fr are:

  • to highlight ASN news with an international flavour;
  • to improve the structuring of the information for the foreign reader and facilitate access to content via a homepage;
  • more user-friendly browsing through sections containing greater content.

The homepage is divided into three zones: a left-hand zone with menus and quick links. A central zone devoted to topical issues. A right-hand zone presenting ASN's latest publications in English.

This site comprises six sections: About ASN; News releases; Professional events; References; International reports; ASN's publications.

ASN will soon be adding new sections to this site, concerning ASN's international activities and the construction of the EPR reactor at Flamanville.

This site in English does not aim to be a full transposition of the French site and will only propose selected content.
