After receiving ASN’s formal opinion, the French government issued, by a decree dated 10 April 2007, the authorization to create a third reactor unit as a European pressurized-water reactor (EPR) on the Flamanville Site.

In application of the Act on transparency and security in the nuclear field (TSN) of 13 June 2006, ASN defined by a decision of 26 September 2008 the prescriptions for the Flamanville 3 EPR reactor currently being built on the Flamanville site.

On the Penly site in the county of Seine-Maritime, 15 kms north-east of Dieppe, there is a nuclear power plant operated by EDF. It consists of 2 PWR reactors [1], each unit producing 1300 MWe. These reactors were set into service in 1990 and 1992.
