The World Health Organisation (WHO)

The World Health Organisation, WHO, is an international institution of the United Nations specialised in health. It is tasked with directing global healthcare actions, defining health research programmes, setting standards and criteria, presenting political options based on convincing data, providing technical support to countries and assessing trends in terms of public health.

The objective of the organisation is "the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health" (Article 1 of its Constitution).
